About SUSTAIN
Sustain West Cork is a new organisation set up to develop solutions to the environmental challenges of the 21st Century.
Initially SUSTAIN was known as SEE and evolved from a small group of enthusiastic and dedicated people who came together to promote a specific event. Their inspiration was the book HARD RAIN by environmental photographer Mark Edwards, published in 2006.
CORK & KERRY TRANSITION GATHERING
Plans are progressing for our Cork/Kerry Transition/Sustainability Gathering. Our committee of volunteers, Matt Mills, Caz Jeffreys, Jeannie Timony are moving the process forward.
Eco-friendly Search Engine: Ecosia
I recently started using an internet search engine that saves 2m² (2.4yd²) of rainforest with each web search I do. Their search results are as good as Google or Yahoo, and it’s free.
The address is: www.Ecosia.org
So far Ecosia has saved 14,539,700 m² (17,389,482 yd²) of rainforest! Check it out and forward this email to your friends. It’s never been so easy to be green...
Thanks!

Gathering Interest in Transition Towns
The Transition Towns movement has been gathering pace globally it is now reportedly one of the fastest growing Social movements on the planet. Its founder Rob Hopkins has been winning prestigious awards such as an Observer Ethical Award for Grassroots campaign of the year. I‘m sure most of you are aware that the whole thing started with students on Rob‘s Permaculture course in Kinsale well the rest of West Cork (excluding Bandon) has been I guess rather typically relaxed and slow about gettin involved.
